Maseeh Fellowship

Awarded to outstanding graduate students (participation of international students encouraged) enrolled in Masters or Ph.D. programs in the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science. At least one fellowship will be awarded to a student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and one in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Recipients are nominated by a committee of at least three professors from the department in which the student is pursuing a degree.

Carl E. Green Fellowship

Awarded to a civil engineering graduate student with a cumulative 3.00+ GPA specializing in environmental/geotechnical engineering. Applicant must show a demonstrated financial need, potential for success and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

This fellowship has been established to recognize and financially assist a graduate student enrolled in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, pursuing the specialty area of environmental or geotechnical engineering at Portland State University.

Structural Engineers Association of Oregon Scholarship Foundation

This merit-based and need-based scholarship has been established to recognize and financially assist students interested in structures. The qualified candidate is an established local resident pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in structures.

Applicant must be pursuing a BSCE degree or MSCE degree from an ABET-accredited program (http://www.abet.org/). Applicant must be a full-time student and complete two terms of junior-level civil engineering classes during the academic year preceding the award. Applicant must have a cumulative, all-course G. P. A. of 3.00 or higher. Applicant must be a United States citizen or permanent resident, and have been a resident of Oregon or Clark County, Washington for four years prior to the year of award. Applicant shall demonstrate a need for financial assistance and demonstrate a desire to practice structural engineering in Oregon.

Wire Reinforcement Institute (WRI) Scholarship Opportunity

The WRI Education Foundation, a 501 c (3) tax-exempt charitable organization, was formed for the specific purpose of funding and awarding these scholarships to qualified high school seniors, as well as current undergraduate/graduate students pursuing degrees in structural and/or civil engineering at accredited four-year universities or colleges in the United States and Canada. The foundations’ principal mission is to encourage and advance the study of civil and structural engineering through the award of these scholarships. As an ancillary benefit, the Foundation seeks to expand the knowledge and understanding of structural Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR) and its application into future generations of structural and civil engineers.

Scholarships will not exceed one year and will be awarded for a specified academic year only. Awarded scholarship funds will be paid by the WRI directly to the University or college designated by the recipient. Scholarship applications are for the 2009-10 academic year.

The International Association of Foundation Drilling (ADSC)

Entering Graduate School in Academic Year 2008-2009 ADSC: The International Association of Foundation Drilling invites applications for $3,000 graduate scholarships from United States and Canadian citizens for graduate study in geotechnical or structural engineering. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an ABET or CEAB accredited engineering program or be a graduate from such a program, and must plan to enter or continue graduate school during the current academic year. A minimum of fourteen scholarships will be awarded for the academic year beginning in the Fall of 2008.

Full-time students are defined as being enrolled in 12 or more graduate school hours a semester. Part-time students are those enrolled in less than 12 graduate school hours, who also must work full- or part-time. In addition to the scholarship, winners will be flown (travel and lodging expenses paid) to the ADSC Annual Meeting, and be formally introduced to the membership. See website for more information.

The Western District Fellowship consists of a $1,000 annual award given to the highest-ranked candidate who is a resident of the Western District (comprised of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and all U.S. territories except Puerto Rico). In addition, the candidates must be planning to pursue graduate study at one of the universities within the district.
